Days 226 & 227, 100% Fruitarian

Wednesday & Thursday, Days 226 & 227, 100% Fruitarian. Detox time. Been having sharp pains in the pit of my stomach combined with increased lethargy and increased eliminations. Detox time. No fun for the fruitarian/raw foodist, but absolutely necessary to continued growth in overall health. So while it doesn't feel too good, its very good for me. i have not slept well the last 3 nights. Yesterday i was on my way to an appointment at 2pm in the afternoon, suddenly i felt like i was falling asleep at the wheel. i pulled over into a motel parking lot, slept for 10-15 minutes and was fine. Later i had planned on going to the park for a workout, but i felt totally beat. i went anyways, did 110 chins and 110 bar dips. Took me an hour (longer than usual), it was raining also (but that felt good actually), but i was decidedly more lethargic with less energy than i have had recently. i usually don't make any adjustments during detox, preferring to let it play itself out. i believe the body will heal itself if given the opportunity. This principle i seek to follow with detox. This time though, i am eliminating the peanuts temporarily. i am not sure why, just an instinct i guess. i had scheduled to stay home this weekend and i am glad i did. i need a Sabbath of quiet relaxation and reflection right about now. On Tuesday, i ran into a deal on organic bananas at Kroger, 29 cents/lb. i bought a good 10-15 pounds. Then i went to the country market and saw a large box of very ripe bananas 4lbs/$1. Needless to say, i have been consuming a good amount of bananas this week. This is a good thing as i am getting hit with the detox. Here are the meals over the last two days:

Wednesday:
Breakfast:
Half a watermelon, 2 bananas. (920 calories).

Lunch:
4 bananas, cup of peanuts. (1801 calories).

Dinner:
tomato-cucumber salad with almond pate. (584 calories)

Exercise:
55 minutes.....80 chins/80 bar dips/160 pushups/40 tricep presses.

Thursday:

Breakfast:
8 bananas, half a watermelon. (968 calories).

Lunch:
half a watermelon, 3 bananas, cup of peanuts. (1847 calories).

Dinner:
Half a watermelon. (678 calories).

Snack:
2 large, garden fresh tomatoes. (66 calories).

Exercise:
1 hour......110 chins/110 bar dips.

For the week i finished with 1040 pushups/250 chins/250 bar dips/90 tricep presses.

Have a great weekend!

Monday, Day 224 100% Fruitarian

Monday, Day 224, 100% Fruitarian. The last few days are like a wind that passes quickly. Sometimes i simply don't know where the time went. i intended on doing a weekend review, but somehow the time passed by and suddenly it was 9pm on Monday night and i was in the park trying to get my workout in. i spoke 3 times on Sabbath; morning, afternoon and evening. There was a huge spread of fresh garden-grown fruit after the evening service. Many melons, strawberries, blueberries, cherries and more. The fellowship was sweet. We didn't get home until after midnight. Sunday, i took it easy, but the day still flew by. i didn't go to the park, but i spent all morning with my wife. Then i just did push-ups intermittently throughout the day (340 total). Ate well all weekend. i even had some funds for a durian but there was none available this weekend, except the frozen pods and i wasn't into them. For the record, last week i did 1275 pushups, 255 chins, 251 dips and 90 tricep presses. Felt very good and the knee is healing very well. i'd say its about 60% right now. i did some one leg squats on it very gingerly today, just a couple at a time, just to test it.

Today i took my children to visit a certain college. This university has the Physical Therapy program my daughter is interested in. She is still 2 years away, but i thought it best to explore the possibities now. It was a 5 hour round trip and we stayed on the campus about 3 hours. Full day for sure. When we got back home it was about 8:30pm. My son and i decided it was a nice evening (which it was) and we went out to the park for some calistenics. We both felt great afterwards. i noticed there were many more people out walking in the evening yesterday, it was definitely a nice summer evening.

Here is how the day went foodwise:

Breakfast:
half a watermelon, 2 bananas. (888 calories).

Snack (at a rest stop):
3 clementines, 5 bananas. (659 calories).

Lunch:
bowl of green grapes, one peach, 4 clementines, 1 cup. (1139 calories).

Dinner:
32oz mango-banana-orange juice smoothie. (886 calories).

Exercise:
60 chins, 120 pushups, 60 dips, 40 tricep presses....35 minutes.

Day 219, 100% Fruitarian

Wednesday, Day 219, 100% Fruitarian. The swelling was gone from my knee today. It is still very sore, but i am amazing at how quickly it is healing. Just to be safe, i am still planning to stay away from too much direct activity with my legs (squats, running, basketball), but i tell you the truth, i will be ready for action before then the way its healing. Yesterday it was very swollen and i was basically dragging it along. Today i can walk up stairs (albeit very slowly). i cannot fully bend it yet but as far as i can bend it, i bend and flex as i sit. Without a doubt, i believe the Father in Heaven and my Lord Christ are using this raw diet to heal me quickly. i mean imagine running full speed, flipping into the air and landing knee-first on concrete. Without the lifestyle i now have been given, i would surely have been in some more serious problem. But 2 days later, the swelling is gone and i am beginning to walk again. Amazing. All praises to the Lord Christ, Creator of the body (which is His Temple on earth today). i was running low on food today, but my wife had $8 for me to get some produce. i was blessed as i got 4lbs of bananas, a nice 16lb watermelon, some garden-grown tomatoes and some yeast my wife requested so she could bake bread. Hey, not bad. Ate most of the bananas as they were very spotted, sweet and delicious. Even had a delicious smoothie today with some leftovers of fruit. Had not partaken of a smoothie in quite awhile since i really have been enjoying whole fruit.

Here is the breakdown:

Breakfast:
Half a watermelon, 3 bananas, 1/3 cup of peanuts. (1044 calories).

Lunch:
Salad with cukes, tomatoes and some lettuce, almond pate and an avocado (alittle too much fat, but i was just throwing things together). Then a banana and 1/3 cup of peanuts. (1145 calories).

Dinner:
45oz smoothie with mango, bananas, canteloupe and juice of 3 valencia oranges. (636 calories).

Exercise:
240 pushups, 83 bar dips, 50 chins.....i wasn't paying much attention to the time involved since i was just focused on working around the knee. Its strange but the pushups seem to bring strength to the knee, i also noticed this the last time i hurt it. i decided that for at least the next two weeks i want 1000 pushups/250 chins/250 bar dips/75 tricep presses each week. Sort of an intermediate level workout (which is where i am right now in my estimation).

Day 217, 100% Fruitarian

Monday, Day 217, 100% Fruitarian. Bit of a disaster today. Bad accident on the basketball court left my left knee grapefruit-size swollen. i had been having a tremendous workout day prior to that. i had just decided to get back into one-leg squats. Now that is all on hold for at least the next two weeks. At least i can focus on the chins/pushups/presses/dips still. Those require no legs and i need to do that anyways. i decided that i'd like to do at least 1000 pushups per week. This may sound like alot but its not considered some people do that each day. Also i want to focus on my bar dips for a week or so. Admittedly though, i was alittle depressed about the knee (this one was worse than what happened to the right one earlier this year), this caused me to eat more peanuts than i normally would. My calorie count was through the roof today; whatever. On the food side, i am really enjoying making sandwiches with tomatoes and lettuce these days. Either using pate or guac with it. i had pate today. i am really loving the watermelon season as the deep red, juicy fruit is really hitting the spot.

Here is how today's meals went.

Breakfast:
Half a large watermelon, 3 bananas, 1/2 cup of peanuts. (1420 calories)

Lunch:
2 tomatoes with 5-7 leafs of lettuce and almond pate. 1/2 cup of peanuts, 2 bananas. (1109 calories).

Dinner:
Bowl full of green grapes, 16oz of fresh OJ, 1 cup of peanuts. (1250 calories).

Exercise:
Morning....300 pushups.......Evening 70 dips, 20 minutes of basketball (before the injury).

Weekend Review Days 215 & 216, 100% Fruitarian

Weekend Review of Days 215 & 216, 100% Fruitarian. The weekend was good. i ate well (although alas, no durian), i had a good workout on sunday but didn't play any basketball. i decided to just lounge. As far as the workout i did a medley of chins, pushups, dips and tricep presses on sunday for 4 sets. Ended up doing 48 chins, 120 pushups, 38 dips and 40 tricep presses. That was a nice workout. i have been taking it easy on my legs over the last couple of weeks but i would like to get back into my one-leg squats. Spoke to a brother in Christ this weekend who was once into gymnastics. He pretty much confirmed what i already know. My inability to do both handstand pushups and muscle-ups are more about technique than strength. He gave me some tips which i intend to practice in my pursuit of these. Walmart had a great deal on nice size watermelons which were actually deep red inside. i enjoyed that. i also enjoyed sandwiches made from romaine, almond pate and tomatoes. Of course i also had my peanuts.

i am feeling great and still have excellent energy. Just flowing along (even in the midst of trying times). Grace is a beautiful thing. Peace is a tremendous gift.

Thursday, Day 213 100% Fruitarian.

Thursday, Day 213, 100% Fruitarian. Its been 7 months now. Overall, this journey has been among the greatest blessings of my life. Not always easy, but always very rewarding. i know there is still much more to learn, to grow into and to experience. My weight is now 185lbs. It was 177lbs about 2 weeks ago (prior to my blunder with the salty olives). i am definitely much more muscular now than i was at the beginning of this journey. Why i ever left bodyweight exercises for free-weights is beyond me. The bodyweight exercises are totally blessing me. i am so into them now. i cannot discount the fact that the fruitarian diet probably has alot to do with that. i have been so busy this week that i have not had time to blog. i have been eating lots of juicy, sweet fruits with the peanuts. i ran monday, tuesday i did 470 pushups and yesterday i ran again (3 miles) and did 63 chins when done. i am running the 3 miles faster and faster (not really pushing it, but my body wanting it). The thing about Tuesday and the pushups is, i did 250 in 15 minutes in the morning, then after a very busy day, i did 22o in 15 minutes in the evening. i love efficiency in my workouts (just a thing with me). People have suggested i post a shirtless photo and i admit i have been tempted to do that. But that would bring glory to me and not my Lord Christ. This is all about Him.

Here is how my day went today:

Breakfast:
Half a watermelon, 1/3 cup of peanuts (934 calories).

snack: 4 bananas. (420 calories)

Lunch:
5 clementines, 5 bananas, 1/3 cup of peanuts. (928 calories).

Dinner:
lettuce leaf sandwiches, consisting of lettuce leaf (both romaine and some iceburg), 2 delicious bright red, juicy, large tomatoes (sliced), and almond pate (spread over the lettuce). i had about 8 of these sandwiches. Followed by, 3 mangos and 2 bananas. (1092 calories).

Exercise:
90 minutes of basketball, 100 chins, 30 tricep presses.

Day 210, 100% Fruitarian

Monday, Day 210, 100% Fruitarian. Something about those peanuts......i awoke this morning with a feeling of tremendous virility. i ran three miles, then did 20 minutes of vigorous calistenics then went to work. After work, i played about 90 minutes of basketball, doing chins and tricep presses between games. Afterwards i still felt tremendous energy. So, just being curious from the power of it all, i looked up dry-roasted peanuts in the shell online. i knew they contained protein, but i found the reason for the increased vigor to be L-arginine. i didn't know peanuts have a fair amount of that particular amino acid. i was acquainted with this substance from my pre-raw days more than 5 years ago. i took all types of supplements then. Also, it was interesting to note that any desire i had for salt completely left me. i mean i didn't desire it or anything that contained it. Now the nuts were unsalted and in the shell. As i am blogging the events from Monday, it is now Tuesday and i have done nearly 500 pushups (470 to be exact); i feel like i could do much more. i will report that tomorrow by God's grace. Needless to say, there is something about those nuts. There are other activities (private in nature) that also showed tremendous increases in virility, but they, being private need no further explanation. Needless to say, there is something about eating fruits and nuts, i am sure of it.

Here is a rundown of todays meals:

Breakfast:
1/3 of a watermelon, 1 mango, 1/4 cup of peanuts. (795 calories).

Lunch:
4 mangos, 1/3 cup of peanuts. (794 calories).

Dinner:
Large smoothie with bananas, jackfruit, mango, dates and clementines. (790 calories).

Exercise:
Morning....3 mile run, 45 bar dips, 140 pushups

Evening....90 minutes of basketball, 45 chins, 25 tricep presses.
